Rochester Movie Makers Summer Shorts Challenge Screenplay Awards

Last night the Rochester Movie Maker meeting was well attended with lots of new faces at the new location, The Visual Studies Workshop, 31 Prince Street. Future Rochester Movie Makers meetings are scheduled for the last Monday of each month starting at 6:30pm at the Visual Studies Workshop.

The screenplay reading is the first part of the RMM Summer Shorts Challenge. Members and voting members determined which were the most popular. Each member voted for their favorite Top 3. All were excellent and all got 1st, 2nd and 3rd place votes. From that, Rochester Movie Makers is happy to announce the top vote getters:

1st Place Mike Russo The Wingman
2nd Place Lisa Miles The Drug Dealer
3rd Place Evan Rubenstein Drive Thru

Thanks to all the members who helped with the readings.

All of the submitted screenplays are worthy of being short films and the goal this year is to get them all produced. At the April 27th meeting, RMM will be looking for Team Captains to work with other Team Captains and the RMM Executive Board to produce these short films this summer. Team Captains will meet regularly to review progress and get needed support for their projects.

Three of the films from the 2008 RMM Summer Shorts Challenge will be displayed at the April Emerging Film Makers series at the Little Theater, Monday April 27th. In addition, at the next RMM meeting members will see the final videos from this winters Whats Cool When Its Cold in Rochester exercise.
